The Global Interfaith Commission on LGBT+ Lives was launched on December 16th 2020 in London at an event supported by the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. The day ended with a Celebration at Westminster Abbey led by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Revd Dr David Hoyle, and was attended by the conference delegates who were able to travel safely to the Abbey during the pandemic. The service booklet can be viewed and downloaded here.
The speaker was the Dean of St Paul’s, the Very Dr David Ison, who spoke on “Without Love, I am Nothing”, prayers were led by Jayne Ozanne, Director of the Global Interfaith Commission on LGBT+ Lives and the reading (1 Corinthians 13: 1-8) was read by Crispin Blunt MP, Chair of the APPG on Global LGBT+ Rights. Representatives from other faiths and Christian denominations led the Act of Remembrance.
After the service, there was a Commitment of Intent for the Future held outside the Abbey at the Innocent Victims Memorial.
